Mystery Roses Around the World

A new book from the editors of Rosa Mundi and the Heritage Rose Foundation.

Now Available!

$27.50 (book rate shipping, USA)

Priority and international shipping available, see right column.

From ancient enigmas to modern conundrums, the world of old roses abounds in mysteries. This new book is about such roses, roses of uncertain origin that have inspired a worldwide effort to preserve old roses. It’s a collection of stories from China, Japan and India, to South Africa, Italy, France, Sweden, Bermuda, America and Australia. From botanists in the mountains of Yunnan to ordinary citizens in the streets of Harlem, the contributors of these fascinating stories include rose sleuths on the trail of old roses, preservationists offering new ways to conserve our heritage of roses and the historic places where they grew, and scientists still uncovering unknown roses in the wild. A fascination for the mystery rose infects them all.

Henry Curtis
Beauties of the Rose, reprint of 1st Ed., 1980

$75.00 USA
$80.00 international
(book rate shipping included)

This reprint produced by Sweetbriar press combines the two volumes from 1850 and 1853. The reproduction of the original chromlithographic plates is exceptionally faithful. Curtis’ inimitable paintings, executed directly on the lithographic plates have a charm and brilliancy that many have compared favorably with Redouté’s work—less accurate in their textural portrayal of foliage, but precise in the number, shape and spacing of thorns, and superb in their representation of the flowers. 82 pages with 38 color prints.

Review of Beauties of the Rose by Jean Lewis, from Rosa Mundi, spring/summer 2007.
